For
this native of Richmond, Virginia, life always included two very specific
dreams: to become a pilot and to work in radio.
Bob Keeton has over 35 years of broadcasting experience in radio and TV. He
started with volunteer radio shows at the
McGuire VA
Hospital (MVGH Radio). He was elected General Manager of Va. Tech's
student station, WUVT AM-FM and went
on to host Saturday night oldies shows on WLVA in Lynchburg, then WGOE and
later on WRVA in Richmond, Va. He felt
led to resign from the popular oldies show on Richmond’s 50,000-watt station
in order to study metaphysical healing.
At that time, AM stations across the country were dropping music and going
to talk formats. So 3 years after leaving the station, WRVA welcomed Keeton
back to host his first talk show. The program was called Living
Successfully. It debuted on Easter, 1996 with guest, Dr. Wayne Dyer.
Today Living Successfully
is produced on-location across America, often recorded before live
audiences.
And about those two lifetime goals or dreams: flying and radio.
Broadcasting took hold early with a transistor radio and home intercom set.
Listening audience: one disinterested sister. The flying came later.
First came his mother and 3-year old brother's death in a 1964, light plane
crash in Richmond. Still there was something about aviation.
Student and then Private Pilot licenses finally came at the
New London Airport in
Lynchburg, Va. (Had to be careful on weekends - it doubled as a drag
strip!)
In addition to the show,
Keeton is proud to serve on the Boards of Directors of the
Center for Therapeutic Justice
and Akhand Param
Dham of America, which was co-founded by Rev. Sally Perry and Swami
Parmanand from India.
He graduated as a
Bachelor of Science with a double major in sociology and psychology and a
minor in language from Va. Tech.
Other work experience includes administrator of a locked unit at a state
hospital for the mentally retarded, trained police officers statewide in
drunk driving detection/apprehension, and was Manager of Video and Audio
Teleconferencing for the Virginia Information Technologies Agency.
He frequently speaks and
moderates panel discussions at national and international conferences on
telecommunications. Bob also speaks to organizations bringing the knowledge
of Living Successfully guests to audiences in a fast-moving, multimedia
presentation entitled, “Wisdom of the Sages”.
All this anchors his
views on soulful, successful living. He has found that holistic approaches
rather than reliance on technology hold the potential to unleash miracles.
Today, most agree that miracles are needed. Fortunately, what we’re
learning is that miracles are also quite available. |
